We all have them, so don't feel alone. The main purpose for this special
site is to help you out quickly and efficiently by providing answers to
web hosting's most frequently asked questions. In fact, out of our entire
site, This is one that is most-continually updated to help better equip
you with the answers you need ASAP to solve the most complicated of problems
you may encounter.
Can I view my site before my domain updates? Just replace USERNAME with the username assigned to you in your Activation Email. and replacing the IP with the one provided in that email as well :-)

Do I need a special program to use FTP? No, but we recommend that you do find one.
You may access a free FTP Manager within your
control panel for you to use (with nothing to
install!). However, you'll have to upload each
file one at a time and it can get time consuming.
There are, in fact, several free FTP Editors on
the web and we recommend you to check out CuteFtp
or zdnet
downloads and perform a search for FTP editors
(take note that some may require some form of
payment if you like them.. but others will allow
you to use them free of charge with the exception
of some features).
FrontPage, DreamWeaver, CuteFTP and such
utilities already have an FTP transfer tool BUILT
IN to them, so no need to look for additional
sources. Personally, I use DreamWeaver MX to access
this site and maintain/manage all the files I
need. I enjoy dreamweaver because it not only
manages my FTP, but it also allows me to design
HTML and such (as this site uses). Of course,
I may use some other programs as well, but I could
basically do everything I needed with this software
(although it comes at a price

How do i get all of my domains working with PN HOSTS? Quite simple. If you can pull up your Activation Email, you'll notice DNS entries to plug in to your registrar. You will need to go to the provider whom you registered your domain name from (ex: networksolutions.com), login to your master domain panel and update your domains 'NAME SERVERS.'
You will then point your domain to the domain Name Server of your choice.
Of course, if you need assistance with this (as we have helped out in the past with others) please don't hesitate to contact us support@pnhosts.com

How do I get files onto my web site? Several ways! :-) Either by uploading your files one by one via your control panel or, an easier way, by using an FTP/HTML editor to upload your files (such as FrontPage, CuteFTP, etc..). All you will need to do is configure the HTML/FTP editor to work with your site and you should be good to go!

In english, every DNS "phone book" (so to speak) will be updated within a MAXIMUM of 72 hours and at that time, anyone in the world can access your site. YOU may be able to access your site within 4 hours

What are the name servers for my site? These name servers are located in your Activation Email. They look something like NS3.something.com NS4.something.com Something like is what you will be looking for. PLEASE DO NOT ASSIGN YOUR NAME SERVERS to the ones in this example unless you are certain these are yours. :-) Please allow 24-72 hours for global DNS updates to update your DNS entries. :-)

What in the world is FTP!? FTP (File Transfer Protocol) is the simplest and most secure way to exchange files over the Internet. Whether you know it or not, you most likely use FTP all the time. The most common use for FTP is to download files from the Internet. When downloading a file from the Internet you're actually transferring the file to your computer from another computer over the Internet. This is why the T (transfer) is in FTP. You may not know where the computer is that the file is coming from but you most likely know it's URL or Internet address.
Here at PNHOSTS, we manage our very own FTP server. Which means, you can upload files the same way as you download them. Upload is basically the exact opposite from downloading a file, such that rather than transferring a file from another computer over the Internet to your own, you are transferring a file TO another computer over the Internet.
Please read our section below on how to SET UP an FTP session on your computer. :-)
